The Association sponsored its first Saltwater Fishing Tournament in 2005, which  became an annual event through 2017. Held during a weekend in August, the tournament offered cash prizes for the largest striped bass and bluefish caught, with additional prizes to second and third places respectively.

Unfortunately due to a lack of adult entrants in 2017 and shortage of volunteer staff, future tournaments are currently under discussion.

It included a very well attened Junior Division (12 year of age and under), with cash prizes for the three largest mackerel and pollock caught. A number of area businesses have donated money, merchandise, and gift certificates to be given away as door prizes, which have helped boost participation and for which the club is very appreciative.

From 2006  through 2013 the tournament was co-sponsored by now closed White Anchor Tackle and Bait and the club .  In 2014 through '17 it was co-sponsored by the club and Oak Street Outdoors tackle shop. We are hopeful that increased interest and volunteers will enable the club to resume this worthwhile event.
